The Cool Cats NFT collection was among the most popular in October 2022. The average cost of a single cartoon cat avatar was $92,000 back then.
Introduction to Cool cats
Cool Cats are Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) representing 9,999 hand-drawn cats, each with a unique set of features produced by an algorithm. To learn about the pros and cons of an NFT art, click here.
Each cat in the series has its own set of characteristics, a mix of the hundreds of various attributes available in the collection. Different body forms, facial expressions, clothing, accessories, and trait pairings assist in assuring that no two cats in the collection are alike.
The initial success of the Cool Cats NFTs sparked a flurry of community participation and trading activity. As a result, the Cool Cats team hopes to include various additional features in future collection editions.
NFT breeding (similar to CryptoKitties) is intended to be included in the second generation of Cool Cats, allowing users to generate new NFTs depending on the inherited traits of parent NFTs.
The first generation of Cool Cats is constrained to the 9,999 cats that were first launched; each assembled at random from over 300,000 selected features: a unique body, face, hat, and attire.
Cool Cat holders get the following benefits:
- The chance to join the Cool Cat community
- Random airdrops
- Easy availability to future Cool Cat events
- Non-exclusive permission to do whatever they want with their Cool Cat NFTs.
A “coolness” measure is also used in the Cool Cats project. The majority of Cool Cats are worth 3–6 points:
- Cool: 4,599 cats have a score of 3 to 4 points.
- Wild: 3,000 cats have a score of 5 to 6 points
- Classy: 1,750 cats have a score of 7 to 8 points
- Exotic: 650 cats have a score of 9 to 10 points
There are 66 “super rare” cats, each of which is one-of-a-kind. The rest of the Cool Cats are dressed in blue and wear various costumes such as knight helmets, TV heads, chef hats, etc. The rarest, or coolest, cats are those with entire clothes. A Cool Cat dressed in a completely assembled pirate costume, for example, is deemed cooler than one dressed in a pirate body and a beanie head.
Creators of Cool Cat
The Cool Cats are a four-person team. Tom Williamson, a blockchain and smart contract specialist, is one of them. The website developer and manager is Rob Mehew (Lynqoid). The creative director is Evan Luza (ELU). Finally, Colin Egan (clon), also known as The Cartoonist, is the illustrator.
All Cool Cats are based on the character “Blue Cat,” which Egan used to sketch in high school. Colin “spent years honing the line weight, ear height, and whisker length of Blue Cat to ultimately bring him to his unquestionably amazing and charming final shape,” according to the Cool Cats blog on Medium.
Cool Cats PFPs was created on July 1, 2021, by a group of self-described “nerds who are enthusiastic about crypto, art, and making cool stuff.”
Can you breed a Cool Cat?
There isn’t much information regarding breeding Cool Cats online; however, it appears this feature will be accessible soon in 2022.
If you’ve been a part of the NFT and digital collectibles scene for a long, you’re probably aware of the notion of digital breeding cats, as CryptoKitties was the first to do so in 2017.
A popular theory about breeding is that if a person possesses two or more Cool Cats, they can combine them to create a Second Generation Cool Cat with shared features from the parents.
What makes Cool Cats cool?
The team hopes to capitalize on the brand’s popularity by introducing new game concepts and features into Cool Cats NFTs. For example, Cool Cats established the Adventurer’s Guild in the first quarter of 2022. In addition, by completing tasks with their Cool Cats NFTs, collectors may earn MILK, the project’s native social coin. MILK is a cryptocurrency token based on the ERC-20 standard that may be traded for various rewards.
In February 2022, another 19,999 NFTs were manufactured under the name Cool Pets. In addition, the Cool Cats team plans more gaming elements and methods for collectors to connect with their NFT companions.
Cool Cats NFTs’ aesthetic minimalism contrasts with the hyper-detailed images of specific other collections. The Cool Cats collection is presented straightforwardly, evoking Saturday morning cartoons. The collection’s success may derive from its nostalgic simplicity with only a cartoonish head and shoulders.
Bottom line
Since the Egyptian days, humans have been captivated by cats, and it appears that this human tendency hasn’t altered much in the blockchain age.
Like all other NFT initiatives, the Cool Cats NFT project’s power and momentum are borne by its strong and active community, which can be found on various social media platforms like the Cool Cat Discord or crypto-related Twitter.
