Contentos supports smartcontracts in WebAssembly bytecodes. Contract development can be done in any programming language as long as the compiler supports WebAssembly. The Contentos team prefers C++ for optimal efficiency and convenience and includes a C++ SDK and an online IDE. Because the programming language is Turing complete, developers can implement any logic in a contract.
saBFT is a BFT+DPoS-based consensus protocol used by Contentos ("self-adaptive Byzantine Fault Tolerance"). The BFT voting mechanism and the block-producing process are separated in saBFT. The Contentos network, unlike other BFT family protocols, performs BFT and block-producing asynchronously so that blocks can be committed in batches. The goal is to eliminate network jitters and achieve finality faster while maintaining safety and liveness.
Use of Native tokens in the ecosystem: COS is the Contentos blockchain's native asset, and it's used to vote, pay gas fees for smart-contract execution, and pay simple transaction fees.
