WazirX is updating the crypto deposit journey to meet applicable Travel Rule compliance requirements.

The Travel Rule requires Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs) to collect and maintain specific information about the sender and recipient involved in crypto transfers. The framework is intended to improve transparency around virtual asset transfers and strengthen compliance standards across the crypto ecosystem.

As Travel Rule requirements continue to shape how crypto transfers are processed, WazirX is aligning its deposit experience with these obligations while keeping the process clear and straightforward for users.

Here is what is changing and what you need to know.

What Is The Crypto Travel Rule?

The crypto Travel Rule is an anti-money laundering compliance requirement for Virtual Digital Asset (VDA) transfers. It requires crypto service providers to collect and, where applicable, securely share information about the originator and beneficiary of a transaction.

Based on FATF Recommendation 16, the rule extends established payment transparency standards to virtual asset transfers. Its purpose is to help identify the parties involved in crypto transactions and support efforts to prevent money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions evasion, and other illicit financial activity.

What Is Changing For Crypto Deposits On WazirX?

WazirX is adding a simple Verify Deposit step to the crypto deposit journey to support Travel Rule requirements.

When a deposit is detected, you can open the transaction in the WazirX App or on the web and follow the on-screen steps to provide or confirm the required details and review the Travel Rule Declaration. Once you accept the declaration and complete the verification, the deposited funds will become accessible.

Hereโ€™s how you can verify your crypto deposit on WazirX.

How To Verify A Crypto Deposit On WazirX?

Step 1: Go to Funds and Select Verify Deposit

Open the Funds section on the WazirX App or Web, and select Verify Deposit to begin the verification process.

Step 2: Select the Source of the Deposit

On the Verify Deposits screen, choose where the crypto was sent from.

You can select:

  • Exchange
  • Private Wallet

If you select Exchange, choose the relevant platform from the list. If it is not available, select Other Exchange and enter the exchange name manually.

Step 3: Provide the Sender Details

Next, indicate whether the sending wallet belongs to you and identify who sent the deposit.

Depending on your selection, you may need to provide details for an Individual or a Company.

For an individual, the form may ask for information such as name, date of birth, identification details, and address.

For a company, you may be asked for company and incorporation details.

Step 4: Review and Accept the Travel Rule Declaration

After providing the required sender information, review the Travel Rule Declaration linked on the verification screen.

Read the declaration carefully and accept it before proceeding.

Step 5: Verify the Deposit

Once the required details are complete and you have accepted the Travel Rule Declaration, select Verify Deposit.

After successful verification, the deposited funds will become accessible in your WazirX account.

What Happens When You Deposit Again From the Same Sender?

If you receive another deposit from a previously verified sender address, WazirX may show the saved sender details during verification.

Review the information before proceeding. If the details are correct, you can use them to complete the verification. If anything has changed, select the option to enter the sender details manually.

What Happens If You Do Not Verify the Deposit?

If verification is required and not completed, the deposited funds will remain temporarily unavailable.

To access them, complete the pending sender details and Travel Rule Declaration steps in the verification flow.

Building for What Comes Next

For WazirX, meeting evolving compliance requirements is part of building a platform users can continue to rely on with confidence. Updates like Travel Rule verification help us align with applicable regulatory standards while keeping the deposit experience clear and easy to follow.

As the crypto ecosystem and its regulatory framework continue to evolve, WazirX will keep adapting its products and processes with the same focus: making crypto access simple, transparent, and dependable for our users.
