Bitcoin Diamond is a Bitcoin fork that was created before Bitcoin incorporated Segregated Witness (SegWit) in order to provide a lower-cost alternative to Bitcoin with faster confirmations and a different mining distribution. To construct and maintain Bitcoin Diamond, Team EVEY and Team 007 split the Bitcoin protocol.

Bitcoin Diamond is based on the Bitcoin Core codebase and employs an ASIC-resistant Optimized Proof-of-Work X13 consensus mechanism. According to the white paper, Bitcoin Diamond supports block sizes ranging from 8 to 32 megabytes. SegWit is supported by Bitcoin Diamond.
It uses public-key cryptography, peer-to-peer networking, and proof-of-work to process and verify payments. It is programmed in C++ language.
