Harmony is a fast and secure blockchain with state sharding and peer-to-peer networking as significant features. Its sharding employs secure proof-of-stake and decentralized randomness, and its networking allows for optimal cross-shard routing and quick block propagation.
Harmony also has a cross-chain functionality called Horizon, which allows holders to migrate between the ONE and Ethereum networks, allowing them to benefit from both the layer-1 and layer-2 networks' security and efficiency. It is actively developing a platform for non-fungible token lending.

Harmony uses proof of stake for network security and fair token distribution. EPoS will enable players to stake directly or delegate their holdings to an active validator.
Harmony supports rapid block transaction consensus using Practical Byzantine Fault Tolerance (PBFT).
It also uses constant-sized signatures from Boneh–Lynn–Shacham (BLS) to commit blocks in a single round of consensus messages.

The native token of harmony is “ONE,” which is necessary to initiate transactions and must be used as a stake for network validators.
