Theta Fuel (TFUEL) is one of the Theta blockchain's two native coins. TFUEL should not be confused with Theta Token (THETA), the Theta blockchain's governance token, which is backed by thousands of community-run Guardian nodes and Enterprise validators such as Google, Binance, Blockchain Ventures, Gumi, and Samsung.
The Theta Network is a blockchain technology for streamlining and consuming video content on the internet. In the network, Theta Fuel Tokens are used to motivate users to behave as peers, sharing redundant or extra compute and bandwidth resources with other peers. NFTs, such as trading cards of media superstars, were added to Theta Network's product catalogue in June 2021. The prices are given in both USD and TFUEL.

The Theta Network is a Proof-of-Stake blockchain that Theta Labs determined would best suit the transaction throughput, storage needs, and speedy consensus requirements of a video streaming network. The Theta blockchain also has a multi-level Byzantine Fault Tolerance (BFT) mechanism that attempts to give the same network security as Bitcoin or Ethereum while allowing for considerably faster transaction validation.
