Trader Joe is a DEX, whose purpose is to provide exchange and trading services. However, this project also offers other core DeFi functionality such as staking, yield farming, and lending. In addition, Zap is a new feature in the project that allows users to trade LP tokens with one click. Among DEXs, Trader Joe was one of the first to have a limit order execution plan, which overcomes the weakness of decentralized exchanges when it comes to slippage.

Being a community-driven project, it is governed by JOE, its governance token, and rewards holders by allocating fees collected from liquidation and swaps back to holders who stake JOE to get xJOE rewards.

Technology

Trader Joe is a DEX application. There are two source code bases, very similar to Sushi (DEX side). Bancor JOE is a lending protocol and has a code similar to CREAM and COMPOUND FINANCE. They also have their own custom advanced management bonus for the controls to manage risk and market on Avalanche.
The team made code improvements to the reward system handling. This does not work on a per block basis, but on a "per second" basis as mentioned in the emission schedule.
Use of Native tokens in the ecosystem:
The core function of Trader Joe is as an exchange platform. People can use the exchange to swap the native Avalanche (AVAX) and other cryptocurrencies.
