Tezos is a self-evolving blockchain that supports smart contracts and offers a platform to build DApps (like Ethereum). One of its differentiating features is “self-amendment” which allows Tezos to self-upgrade without having to split (“fork”) the network into two different blockchains. They also have “on-chain governance” where all stakeholders can participate in governing the protocol, and vote on amendments.
About the team: Tezos is founded by a couple — Arthur Breitman (ex-Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs) and Kathleen Breitman (ex-Bridgewater Associates and R3).
Tezzies, a.k.a., XTZ is a native currency backed by Tezos. It can be created through the staking process which Tezos calls “baking”.
