A partnership between Polygon and Nothing, the maker of Phone, has been announced. The first smartphone from Nothing will feature technology from the Ethereum scaling protocol.
Although Polygon won’t be producing its own smartphones, the alliance hopes to increase awareness of crypto and NFTs by giving customers access to Web3 capability.
The phone manufacturer would airdrop non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to reward its community investors. The membership scheme, dubbed “Nothing Community Dots,” will give members access to special community content. Some extra benefits include discounts on goods, access to rare offline events, and other special benefits.
Before the virtual debut of the Nothing phone on July 12th, this is the first stage of the joint effort.
“With this launch, the Nothing brand will expand beyond consumer technology, making it one of the first in the industry to connect physical objects with the rapidly expanding Web3 arena. By allowing sustainable and secure access to Web3 applications, the aim is to make all of Nothing’s phone products and other ecosystem devices future-ready.”
Users of the Nothing Phone will have access to the network’s payments and upcoming services, including a proof-based identification solution called Polygon ID, in addition to the apps and games on the Polygon platform.
According to Polygon, the ultimate goal is to support sustainable and secure access to Web 3 apps to make all of Nothing’s phone products and other ecosystem devices “future-ready.”
