PROOF, the Web3 media organization headed by Digg co-founder and venture financier Kevin Rose, has made waves in the NFT market with the significant launch of its Moonbird NFT project. In addition, Alexis Ohanian, another well-known software entrepreneur, has now invested in the firm.
What is the Moonbird NFTs?
Moonbirds are a group of 10,000 Ethereum-based Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) that took flight on April 16th, 2022, in accordance with the ERC-721 standard.
The official website says Moonbirds NFTs are “utility-enabled PFPs with a profoundly diverse and distinct pool of rarity-powered characteristics.”
PROOF is the business behind Moonbird and the PROOF Collective and Grails initiatives. It was founded by Kevin Rose and Justin Mezzell, two well-known figures in the NFT community.
Kevin Rose said today that PROOF had received a $10 million investment from Seven Seven Six, the venture capital firm founded by Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian. Rose noted in a tweet that his venture capital firm, True Ventures, was also involved in the funding round, but Ohanian’s company “spent $10 million” in a Twitter Space today.
As a result, an NFT serves as a deed of ownership for a one-of-a-kind digital property, such as images, video files, or interactive video game items. In addition, PROOF, the Bored Ape Yacht Club, and other significant NFT efforts have utilized it as a key to access restricted online groups and real-world events.
Rose stated in a video interview posted today that PROOF did not require outside investment but that he wanted the chance to work with Ohanian.
It’s interesting to know that PROOF has plans to release more NFTs, create Web3 content, hold a live conference in 2023, and make other efforts.
