Sky Mavis, the company behind Axie Infinity, announced on May 31 that 12 projects had been accepted into its Builders Program, which focuses on creating new gaming experiences to help increase the number of users — which, by the way, has fallen exponentially along with the price of the native tokens.
According to a press release from Sky Mavi, the startup chose 12 ideas from over 2,000 applicants. The winners will get $10,000 in Axie Infinity’s native currency, AXS, to help support the development of their projects. They’ll also be able to monetize them using the game’s logo on a shared basis.
Sky Mavis is implementing a number of initiatives in order to create a better, more engaging user experience. The Builders Program is only one of them.
With the Builders Program, the Axie Infinity team will take advantage of its community’s skills and experience to develop new game modes that will help “strengthen the Axie ecosystem.” Sky Mavis also announced that it is collaborating with big game studios to create new experiences for both Axie Infinity and Ronin, its standalone blockchain network.
Simultaneously, Philip La, Axie Infinity’s head of game product, stated that co-creating projects with the Axie Infinity community “will be a key driver of value generation at scale over time.” The WEB3 ethos emphasizes decentralization, and having a community actively involved in the development of an ecosystem is critical for Axie Infinity’s long-term success in the blockchain world.
AXS was one of the tokens that took the brunt of the negative trend in 2022, losing more than 85% of its value after reaching its all-time high of $160. However, the token has managed to hold above $18, which many analysts regard as a level of support.
Although Axie Infinity’s internal economics continue to deteriorate, the game’s community is so large that it could help the game reclaim its place at the top of crypto games once the winter is through.
