One of the largest e-commerce businesses in India, Flipkart, has said it will test its metaverse shopping procedure. Customers can make purchases through their smartphone as if they were physically there in a virtual store, thanks to a metaverse called Flipverse.
More on Flipverse
The company claims that the experience aims to gamify the buying process and include loyalty points, enabling users to earn supercoins and digital collectibles from various brands that have already agreed to participate in this pilot initiative.
As the e-tailer pursues additional sales from the tier-2 and beyond cities, the feature has only been made available to Android customers, who the company claims make up the majority of its customer base.
The startup, called Flipverse, is essentially a collaboration between Flipkart and eDAO. Its goal is to imitate a mall-like purchasing experience where users can build their avatars and electronically interact with other characters.
Flipverse will be accessible through the app of Flipkart’s newly developed FireDrops platform.
Which brands will be a part of Flipverse?
About 100 products from 15 different companies, including Puma, Tokyo Talkies, Nivea, Campus, Ajmal Perfumes, Noise, Himalaya, Lavie, Butterfly India, and others, will be featured in the initial phase of Flipverse. In addition, Flipkart stated that there was interest from additional manufacturers wishing to sell their products on the site, while it has not decided when the next stage of Flipverse will open.
