Fans will be allowed to collect NFTs of video highlights from forthcoming World Cup games according to a multi-year agreement FIFA has reached with the metaverse gaming platform Upland. In addition, the Lusail Stadium in Qatar will be represented virtually in the FIFA open world on Upland, along with other virtual items like stores and real estate.
Fans will gain knowledge about how to interact with and contribute to the online community through the experience. The educational initiatives and opportunity for supporters to cheer for their favorite national team will be supported by a wide range of events in Upland during and between competitions.
With more than 3 million registered users across its iOS, Android, and web app, Upland will showcase digital versions of all 32 World Cup teams’ national crests, boots, jerseys, logos, posters, and team mascots. Additionally, in Upland, supporters may purchase virtual structures that will be decked out with the flags of their preferred World Cup team.
On December 18, Upland will reveal the location of its new virtual capital, which will be based on the country that prevails in the actual World Cup in Qatar. In addition, Upland and the NFLPA agreed to create NFTs for more than 2,000 active NFL players in January.
