Yuga Labs Welcomes A Former Leader From Activision Blizzard As CEO

Daniel Alegre has been appointed CEO of Yuga Labs, the organization behind the Non-Fungible Token (NFT) collections for the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and CryptoPunks. On April 1, the executive joined the NFT company after resigning from his position as Activision Blizzard’s president and COO

On March 31, 2023, Daniel posted on Twitter to notify his followers of his new position as Yuga labs’ Chief Executive Officer.

Alegre was a significant contributor to Activision Blizzard’s expansion in recent years, managing well-known gaming properties like Candy Crush, World of Warcraft, Call of Duty, and Diablo.

About Daniel Alegre

Alegra started out as the Vice President of Latin America for Google before being elevated to the position of president of Asia Pacific. Later, he was named Google’s President of Global and Strategic Partnerships. 

In April 2020, Alegra parted ways with Google; he then was in charge of Global Retail Shopping and Payments. He started working for Activision Blizzard in April 2020 and stayed there for three years before replacing Micole Muniz at Yuga Labs.

Future plans of Yuga Labs

Alegre will lead Yuga Labs as it looks to diversify its product line and pursue new business opportunities. The company is presently engaged in a number of projects, including the creation of a play-to-earn game using BAYC NFTs and the launch of the animated television series “Bored Ape Yacht Club” in association with the independent production company Zero Gravity. Additionally, Yuga Labs recently completed a $450 million Series A funding round, which will be used to finance these initiatives and hasten the company’s expansion into new markets, like partnerships with well-known brands and the metaverse.
