Overview
DigiByte is a Bitcoin-based open-source blockchain created in 2013 and released in 2014. DigiByte combined five separate algorithms to improve security and was created to enhance the security, capacity, and transaction speed of the Bitcoin blockchain.
DigiByte comprises of three layers: a smart contract "App Store," a public ledger, and the core protocol, which uses nodes to relay transactions.

Technology
DigiByte employs five proof-of-work algorithms (Sha256, Scrypt, Skein, Qubit, and Odocrypt) to secure the blockchain and decrease the possibility of double-spending.
DigiByte uses Segregated Witness (SegWit), a first-layer solution that enhances overall network scalability by changing the structure of transaction blocks.
Token allocation
The supply of DGB is capped at 21 billion by Digibyte. 0.5% of the total DGB supply was pre-mined in January 2014. 50% of the pre-mine was given away, and the other 50% was allocated to fund the development of the first Android & OSX DGB wallets. Every month, the block rewards are reduced by 1%.
