Summary
The Golem Network is a decentralized computation network. Using Golem users can buy or sell computational power from other users in a peer to peer environment. Golem is built using Ethereum smart contracts as a transaction system for nano-payments within the network. Golem Network Tokens (GNT) will serve as a secure medium for all transactions within the Golem Network.

Overview
It is made up of the combined power of users’ machines, from PC’s to entire data centers. Golem creates a decentralized sharing economy of computing power and supplies software developers with a cheap source of computing power.
The idea for Golem Network was first presented during DevCon 0 in November 2014. The decentralized platform is intended to be the first proxy-free and censorship-resistant environment for computer-intensive projects around the world.
The function of Golem as the backbone of a decentralized market for computing power can be considered both Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), as well as Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS). However, Golem reveals its true potential by adding dedicated software integrations to the equation. Any interested party is free to create and deploy software to the Golem network by publishing it to the Application Registry.

Technology
Golem has launched a dynamic marketplace for CGI rendering where you may rent computational power to perform these exhaustive tasks. Though the traffic on the present marketplace is limited with hardly any average pricing to look at patterns, renting computational power is a real use case with a real solution in providing decentralized supercomputing.
Onboarding three groups are required to scale the compute market provided by Golem: providers of computing resources ("providers"), task creators ("requestors") who submit their jobs to be computed by the network, and software developers. Golem's distinctive, interconnected ecology is made up of these three groupings.
Currently, Golem is creating the necessary developer tools to onboard prospective software developers, including an application registry where developers can publish their applications and requesters can easily search and find the specific applications and tools they need. The community will leverage the application registry to maintain quality control through a decentralized rewards and reputation system.
Use of Native tokens in the ecosystem:
GLM acts as Golem’s Network Token that is needed to pay for computations on the network and is the currency that drives the marketplace.
