Multisignature is a digital signature protocol that enables many users to sign the same document.
Typically, a multisignature technique generates a single, combinatory signature instead of a collection of unique signatures from each user. For cryptocurrency transactions, multisignature increases security. Only when two or more signatures are submitted simultaneously can the assets saved on a multi-signature address be accessible.
Although multisign has been used in the crypto space, the idea was around long before Bitcoin was ever invented. For instance, we need two keys while we want to access our safety deposit box in the bank locker. One which we hold, and the other remains in the bank’s ownership. Without both the keys, one cannot access the bank locker. Multisignature is a similar concept.
