Web 1.0, or the “read-only web,” as Tim Berners-Lee described, is the internet’s initial incarnation. In other words, the early web enabled information search and reading. User participation and content creation were incredibly minimal.
Web 1.0, also known as Syntactic Web or Read-Only Web, was the original version of the internet, and it was used from 1990 to 2000. Users were only able to read content that was created by other people. Static websites and personal websites were the rage during the age of Web 1.0.
