The Celo Foundation and Google Cloud have announced a collaboration to support projects aligned with Celo’s blockchain ecosystem and drive early adoption of Google Cloud services. The main goal of this partnership is to boost Celo’s mobile-first infrastructure and decentralized applications (DApps) by providing credits for Google Cloud and Firebase usage to developers building on Celo.
Firebase is a web & mobile app development platform developed by Google that provides various tools and services to developers for creating apps, including real-time databases, messaging, cloud storage, and authentication.
As part of the partnership, the Google Cloud team will offer guidance and mentorship to the Founders of Celo Foundation’s in Residence program and participate in the Celo Camp accelerator program, which aims to support entrepreneurs in developing sustainability-focused startups. The two organizations also plan to co-host workshops and events to promote sustainability and innovation in the Web3 space.
Xochitl Cazador, the head of ecosystem growth at the Celo Foundation, commented that the collaboration between Google and the Celo Foundation would help to create a greater awareness of blockchain technology and its capability to scale real-world use cases on Celo.
Cazador added that Google Cloud’s core team would assist the Celo Foundation through joint hackathons, workshops, and events focused on Web3 and sustainability. The primary objective of the partnership is to boost both teams’ belief that blockchain technology is well-suited to address environmental issues.
