Owners of Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs will soon be able to wear their PFPs, moored in a distinctive TIMEX watch, on their wrists.
500 watches will be made as a result of the partnership between TIMEX and the Bored Ape Yacht Club community, and each one will have the ape or mutant of the owner clearly displayed on the watch face. In addition, anyone who purchases the watch can personalize it with various cases, bands, and engravings.
Timepiece Forge Pass NFTs, which can currently be purchased for 2 ETH, or around $2,500, have begun to be sold. Forge Pass holders will get access to the TIMEX website in the middle of December so they can create their watches.
“Timex is entering Web3 by keeping creativity and community at the forefront,” said Shari Fabiani, SVP of Global Marketing and Creative Services Timex Group. “In partnership with the BAYC community, we are redefining and pushing the boundaries of physical, virtual, and now phygital products.”
With the debut of a branded challenge in the video game Fortnite just last month, Timex dubbed themselves the “timekeepers of the metaverse.”
Long-time Ape community members Josh Ong and CryptoVonDoom supplied the artistic guidance for the BAYC watch cooperation. In the announcement, VonDoom remarked, “As a part of the OG Bored Ape community, it’s been dope to collaborate with the OGs of watchmaking.”
