The metaverse boom has taken off in the crypto ecosystem, with more and more crypto projects built around NFTs and integrations with their metaverses. While this is great for popularizing the blockchain and getting more people involved with crypto, it is often frustrating for many when they try to identify newly launched good projects amongst a sea of mediocre ones. To help ease this difficulty, here’s a list of some of the most promising metaverses launching in 2022.

Blocktopia

Blocktopia is a game created to pay homage to Bitcoin and educate people about the blockchain functions. There are 21 levels – each floor of a virtual skyscraper. The team chose the number 21 because it coincides with the total supply of tokens on the Bitcoin network: 21 million. The project is developed on the Polygon blockchain, a side chain of the Ethereum blockchain.

On Blocktopia, you can create content, learn about the blockchain and metaverse, earn tokens, and more, all with its immersive gameplay design. The native token BLOK is capped at 200,000,000,000 tokens, with a current supply of 8.34 billion tokens. Using BLOK, one can participate in events, buy virtual land, or participate in the network’s DAO.

RedFox

RedFox is a unique entrant in the metaverse space. Unlike others, it is not a game or social platform. Instead, it is a metaverse platform where local businesses can find tools to shift their companies to the blockchain, using tools such as virtual reality. The creators are from Southeast Asia, well known for their rapid adoption of crypto.

RedFox is an ambitious project with a current market cap of $71.5 million, with a total supply of 2 billion RFOX tokens, of which 1.31 billion have already been issued. With RFOX, traders can conduct transactions, buy NFTs from the platform, play games, purchase content directly from their creators, and even stake their tokens.

Meta Hero

Meta Hero, despite the name, is a metaverse platform that aids designers and artists in creating 3D avatars and other virtual assets for use in the metaverse, using 3D scanning and modeling techniques. These assets can be utilized in a wide range of online metaverses. The platform also allows for the creation of NFTs out of real-world collectibles and pieces of art using their 3D scanning technology.

Meta Hero has a market cap of $222.46 million, with a token currency known as HERO. With a total of 10 billion tokens in supply and 5.095 billion tokens in circulation, Meta Hero is a great project to invest in. With its simple tools, people with non-artistic backgrounds too can create their own 3D NFTs and assets, all with a few simple steps.

Aavegotchi

Aavegotchi is a play-to-earn NFT game utilizing DeFi mechanisms that runs on the Aave protocol, a smart contract built on top of the Ethereum chain. Developed by Pixelcraft Studios, the team cites the game, ‘My Tamagotchi Forever,’ a pet simulator game with more than 5M+ downloads on the Play Store, as inspiration for Aavegotchi. Players must purchase GHST, the Aavegotchi metaverse’s native token, to participate in Aavegotchi. They can trade in the GHST tokens to purchase Aavegotchi NFTs, similar to how CryptoKitties are bought.

An Aavegotchi NFT is an avatar represented by a pixelated ‘ghost’ character. It can be improved if the player participates in the platform’s mini-games. This NFT avatar is tradable on the marketplace and increases in value as the player works on improving it.

Mobox

Mobox is a play-to-earn NFT game that adds decentralized finance concepts to a game. Initially released on Binance, it was one of the first games officially categorized as a “GameFi” offering. Gamers earn MOMO NFTs by playing games in the Mobox metaverse, which can further be exchanged for crypto on the NFT marketplace.

The metaverse’s native token MBOX is used for all transactions in the metaverse and can be used for staking rewards on the blockchain too. Mobox is also one of the first examples of a DAO in NFT-based video games, as holding the MBOX token entitles a player to vote on important issues related to the game.

Conclusion

As seen above, these are some of the most promising metaverses launched in 2022, each with its unique functionality and features. DYOR, analyze your appetite and make the best choice!
